Closeness to an exact angle
A conjunction, square, trine, opposition, or other aspect is exact at a specific number of degrees. The orb describes how far the two points are from that exact relationship.
Birth chart foundations
Learn what aspect orbs measure, why there is no single universal cutoff, and how to use closeness as one careful part of reading a birth chart.
An orb is the distance between an exact aspect and the positions in a chart. It can help you notice emphasis, but it does not prove that an aspect will dominate a life or predict a specific event.
A conjunction, square, trine, opposition, or other aspect is exact at a specific number of degrees. The orb describes how far the two points are from that exact relationship.
Astrological traditions, planets, angles, and aspect families use different orb practices. A setting is a consistent reading choice, not proof that another careful approach is wrong.
A close aspect may deserve attention, yet its meaning still depends on the planets involved, their houses, repeated themes, life context, and the questions you are actually asking.
Start with the functions of the two planets and the aspect between them. Do this before deciding that a narrow or wide orb makes the relationship “good,” “bad,” or fated.
A closer orb can be a reason to look more carefully. It does not cancel wider patterns, guarantee an outcome, or make a person reducible to one configuration.
Use the same settings across a reading, and note when birth time uncertainty affects angles or houses. Clear limits make a chart easier to discuss honestly and revise over time.
